Northwestern Region Conference

February 23, 2019

Edinboro Student PSEA members are so proud of Northwestern Region President,  Julie Bernatowicz, and the members of the Edinboro chapter for hosting the first Northwestern Region Conference at Edinboro University. We had such a wonderful turnout! Inspiring educators spent the day in stimulating sessions, completing the Snapchat challenge, listening to a panel of recent graduates who are out in the area teaching, and listening to an eye-opening presentation from Keynote Speaker, Donna Miller, during lunch.

Session topics included: Effective Classroom Management (Dr. Chris Clayton), Special Education in Urban Schools (Jill Crable), STEM in the Classroom (Micheal Hale), What Districts are Offering (Rob Myers), Interviewing Tips and Tricks (Jess Porter and Mike Trudnowski), Diversity in the Classroom (Dr. Melissa Marks), and Certification and Tenure (Dr. Chris Clayton).

Attended: Jen Stevenson, Amanda Johnson, Alexis Whitfield, Cole Myers, Linsey Dunham, Sky Barney, Mariah Allen, Sam Comi, Angelica Bettelli, and 50 other members.

Pennsylvania State Conference

March 28-30

Members of Student PSEA traveled over 300 miles from campus to the Kalahari Resort in the Pocono Mountains on the east side of the state. The 22 members who attended had the chance to participate in many professional development opportunities, volunteer at outreach to reach, and network with other professionals and pre-service teachers from across the state.

All Student PSEA members traveled by bus to participate in 2019 Outreach to Reach event at Clear Run Elementary School in Pocono Manor, PA. Hundreds of volunteers worked to transform blank walls in hallways and gathering areas of the school into inviting and colorful murals. Each hallway in the school represented an ecosystem. Below are pictures of the arctic and dessert ecosystems which our members helped to create.

Attended: Jen Stevenson, Amanda Johnson, Alexis Whitfield, Cole Myers, Linsey Dunham, Sky Barney, Mariah Allen, Sam Comi, Angelica Bettelli, McKenzie Ashbaugh, Bailee Slike, Logan Hayes, and 10 other members.
